Realtor burned in four-wheeler crash

Special to SEGAZINE

A Folkston woman is in critical condition after a freak accident here last week.

Pam Nettles Renshaw, a 1980 CCHS grad and local realtor, was severely burned when a four-wheeler she was driving overturned into a fire pit at her home.

The 51 year old mother of three and soon to be grandmother was transported  by helicopter to the burn center at Shands in Gainesville after her boyfriend found her in the fire, under the ATV, and brought her to town in his vehicle.

Reports the Charlton County 911 dispatch center did not answer phone calls from Renshaw’s boyfriend are inaccurate said Sheriff Dobie Conner last week.

“I’m aware of the stories and have investigated the matter,” he told the Herald. “All dispatch activity and calls are recorded and there were no unanswered calls to 911 on the day of Ms. Renshaw’s accident.”

Conner said Renshaw’s boyfriend came into the sheriff’s department that afternoon seeking help when he was unable to locate anyone at the EMS office across the street. The ambulance normally stationed there was already out on another call.

Dispatch was able to contact the ambulance, which responded to the scene and transported Renshaw to a medevac helicopter which had been called in.

The realtor remains in critical condition this week with second and third degree burns on her back, stomach, left arm, hand and leg, and part of her right leg.
