The death of a woman killed in a Sunday morning crash has sent shock waves of grief and sadness through many Glynn County residents who counted the woman who lovingly cared for their children as family.
Renee Dowdy, 51, was killed instantly when the Buick LeSabre her husband, 50-year-old Darryl Dowdy, was driving was struck from behind as they waited in a left turn lane on the Golden Isles Parkway. Darryl Dowdy remains in critical condition at UF Health Jacksonville while Kyle Casmir, 19, the driver of the 2001 Dodge Dakota that hit the Buick, was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System’s Brunswick hospital with injuries that aren’t life threatening.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Georgia State Patrol and its Special Collision Reconstruction Team in the investigation of the crash.
As that investigation continues, Renee Dowdy’s friends are sadly awaiting funeral arrangements.
