No charges against police who shot Waycross man

Special to SEGAZINE

A Georgia prosecutor says he won’t bring criminal charges against two Waycross police officers who shot and killed a man inside his home after his fiance called 911 seeking help.

Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bradley Collins said in a statement Wednesday that officers were justified in killing 45-year-old Jack Lamar Roberson in October based on findings by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Waycross police said the officers fired at Roberson to protect themselves.
