Special to SEGAZINE
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority on Monday agreed to grant an option to buy property to an Atlanta-based company for a possible solar farm.
A six-month option was granted to Maryst Land Holding LLC for 8 to 30 acres at 4280 Fulton Mill Road adjacent to the planned Bibb County animal shelter. The company is attempting to get a contract with Georgia Power as part of a solar initiative, and it must have the property secured before it will be considered, said Stephen Adams, project manager for the authority.
If Maryst secures a contract with Georgia Power, it will then buy the property from the authority, he said.
In other matters, Adams said Pactiv Advanced Packaging Solutions, which suffered a major fire May 1, 2013, is installing new equipment and plans to hold a grand reopening May 1. The company has “kept everyone who wanted a job” and has been busing Macon workers to its plant in Covington during the past year, he said.
