A middle school band director has been arrested on child molestation charges, and police are investigating whether there are more potential victims.
James Ray Clark Jr. is being held at the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office on charges of aggravated child molestation and criminal attempt to commit statutory rape after two people claim he sexually assaulted them decades ago.
The Darien Police Department said the investigation began when a person came forward to say they had been assaulted by Clark in 2000-2001 while he worked as a youth minister at the Loganville First United Methodist Church.
According to police, the accuser became concerned when they found out Clark worked for the Glynn County School District.
Clark, 48, teaches band at Jane Macon Middle School.
As police began investigating the claims from the initial accuser, another potential victim came forward to say Clark sexually assaulted them in the early 1990s.
Police are now working to identify other potential victims.
Clark has worked as a band director in McIntosh, Liberty and Glynn Counties. He’s also worked in youth ministry in McIntosh, Chatham and Glynn Counties in Georgia, as well as in the Ft. Meyers area.
