A Statesboro man was arrested on several drug charges Thursday after the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team carried out a search warrant at an apartment on Lanier Drive.
The investigation was prompted by sales of marijuana from that apartment. The operation aimed to stop drug buys from the apartment and to send a message those who buy drugs about the hidden dangers of participating in drug transactions.
Jeffrey Zane Strickland, 19, was arrested and charged with three counts of sale of marijuana, three counts of unlawful use of communications facilities, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Marijuana and a firearm were found during the search, according to the BCSO.
Based on the findings made during the execution of the search warrant, investigators began arresting those who went to the apartment in an attempt to buy marijuana, according to the BCSO. Over the whole night, 28 defendants were arrested. Those arrested in the reverse sting face charges of criminal attempt to purchase marijuana and possession of marijuana (less than one ounce).
The defendants were taken to the Bulloch County Jail for processing. Bonds have been assigned to the defendants and several have been released.
